Who I Am 036 - Elliot Blake
In this episode I talk with producer, writer, and cocktail mixer, Elliot Blake.
Elliot recently ran a Kickstarter campaign, the rewards of which were 100 custom cocktails for each of the 100 backers. He came by and mixed one of those cocktails, The Lazy Eye, for us to try before the interview.
You can follow Elliot on twitter here.
If you'd like to try a Lazy Eye at home here's the recipe;
- 1.5 oz. London Dry Gin
- .5 oz. St. Germaine Elderflower Liqueur
- .24 oz. Creme de Cassis
- 1 oz. fresh-squeezed lemon juice
- .5 oz. simple syrup
- 1/2 fresh egg white
In a shaker combine gin, St Germaine, lemon juice, simple syrup, and egg white, and briefly shake hard without ice to froth up the egg white. Add ice and shake again to chill, then strain into a coupe. In an off-center spot, pour the Creme de Cassis through the foamy head of the drink; it'll float to the bottom. Then, with an eye dropper, add several drops of Creme de Cassis on top of the foam in the spot where you poured it in, to create the lazy eye that gives the drink its name.
